CNC Setter/Operator

We currently have a vacancy for an additional CNC setter/operator based at our Waterlooville branch.

Reporting to, and taking direction from the Production Manager, the CNC Setter/Operator will assist in the delivery of department targets through the effective operation and setting of machinery, to deliver the required Manufacturing output at the highest quality. The main purpose of the role is to support the department in the manufacture of components for prototyping, new product development and production/manufacturing orders including troubleshooting any issues that occur before, during or after machine runs.

Key skills we are looking for to fulfill this role include:

  • Ability to use workshop machinery and tooling

  • Demonstrable CNC machining experience – sliding head desirable

  • Alkart and Esprit CAM system editing experience desirable

  • Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team

  • Personable, quick to learn, methodical thinker with strong verbal communication skills

  • Able to organise and complete work in accordance with departmental and company priorities

  • Component inspection experience – use of measuring equipment

  • Computer literate and able to read technical drawings

European Business Development Manager

This is an exciting opportunity within our growing sales team, managing accounts across Europe and Northern Ireland.  Your role will include growing sales profit and analysing sales patterns for assigned accounts.  You will work with a number of other departments including: Operations, with regard to contracts and stock call-offs; Marketing, to feedback on leads assigned; FSSC/Accounts Department, raising any concerns of financial strength etc. and our Customer Service Department to designate help when required in preparing quotes for customers.

Working with the Sales Manager you will ensure regular customer contact and external visits proportionate to the customer spend or potential.  Customer visits to The West Group are also to be encouraged and organised.  There will also be the opportunity to assist at International trade shows.

Key skills we are looking for to fulfil this role include:

Design & Test Engineer

Are you a recent graduate of an engineering discipline?  This is an excellent opportunity, in a growing and fast-paced engineering environment for an enthusiastic graduate. This varied role will enable you to build and develop your knowledge and skillset in areas such as computer aided design, technical drawings, project management, engineering analysis and testing.  You will be reporting to the Design, Test and Validation Engineering Manager and will work closely with the Quality, Manufacturing and Technical Departments.

The main purpose of the role is to assist in all aspects of engineering development and troubleshooting which occur within the lifecycle of The West Group’s products.

Key skills we are looking for to fulfil this role include:
  • Engineering knowledge stemming from an apprenticeship served, university degree or additional professional experience
  • Understanding of material selection
  • Understanding of fluid mechanics, solid mechanics and statics
  • Understanding of the specification and application of pneumatic components and systems would be distinct advantage
  • Experienced in the use of 3D CAD systems (Ideally SolidWorks)
  • Experience with CAE software (such as FEA/CFD) would be advantageous
  • Basic understanding of electrical and electronics would be an advantage
  • Familiar with standards, ISO9001, ISO13485 and BS8888

Operational Buyer

We have a busy Purchasing Department which currently has a vacancy for an Operational Buyer.  We are looking for someone who has a minimum of 2 years’ Purchasing experience along with supplier liaison and MRP experience – ideally having used SAP Business One.  

The job will suit someone who has an excellent telephone manner and is confident, articulate, positive and responsive.  They should be a team player who is well organised and able to communicate at all levels within the business.


Key skills we are looking for to fulfil this role include:
  • Being responsible for RFQs, sample requests and obtaining technical details from suppliers
  • Analysis of the daily MRP report
  • Close liaison with the Sales Team to ensure orders meet the agreed MOQs and lead-times to ensure all purchasing is done effectively and efficiently
  • Raising purchase orders in SAP
  • Reviewing supplier acknowledgments, updating delivery dates and ensuring zero pricing errors
  • Identifying and progressing any overdue orders
  • Close liaison with the Business Development, Customer Services and Production Teams to minimise the impact of late deliveries to customers and Manufacturing
  • Reviewing/set min & max stock levels to ensure correct stock holding
  • Expediting orders with suppliers
  • Negotiating “push outs” of delivery dates in line with customer re-schedules

Senior Design/Lead Engineer (Research & Development)

The Senior Design Engineer is a key role in the Engineering Department R&D Team and is responsible for providing design and drafting capability across projects, leading and supporting the team in both development and post design projects.

SAP Business One Support Analyst

Are you looking for a creative new role with a growing local employer?
Due to continued success and rapid growth, The West Group are looking for a SAP Business One Support Analyst to join our company.

Reporting to, and taking direction from the Business Intelligence Manager, our SAP Business One Support Analyst will support, maintain and continually improve the current SAP Business One system.

You will be first-line support for all SAP B1 related issues and queries and be expected to monitor and manage SAP B1 support tickets through the Freshdesk portal.  You will work with the BI Manager, BI Analysts and other individuals to drive continuous improvement of the current SAP Business One System across the Group.

Key skills we are looking for to fulfill this role include:

  • Extensive SAP Business One experience alongside knowledge of any of the following would be useful: HANA Studio, Crystal Reports, SQL report writing, BPA, Sharperlight, Hubspot, Boyum & Produmex
  • Good analytical skills
  • Preferably educated to graduate level 
  • Knowledge and experience of financial processes would be useful
  • Computer literate with a very good working knowledge of Excel, eye for detail
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
